EDAF Benefits

What is EDAF?

EFMD's Deans Across Frontiers (EDAF) is an assessment and mentoring system for business schools in emerging markets that helps them improve in a wide range of quality dimensions. The EDAF system offers a two-path approach that distinguishes between institutional development progress in strategic goals and bridging the gap as an accelerator towards international accreditation. The benefits of EDAF include access to a highly experienced pool of mentors and best practices of the EFMD community, one-on-one meetings with an EFMD Quality Services Director, and an EDAF certificate at the completion of the process.

What are the benefits of EDAF for institutions?

EDAF offers several key advantages, including:

  • Structured Development Process

The EDAF process facilitates a structured reflection by each school's Senior Management Team on key attributes according to a defined framework.

  • Thorough Assessment and Analysis

A high-level peer advisory team thoroughly assesses institutions and provides context-based analysis, which serves as a foundation for the mentoring process.

  • Systemised Mentoring Approach

EDAF provides a systemised approach to mentoring with quality assurance, progress tracking, and defined assessment criteria, enhancing international benchmarking and comparison.

  • Access to EFMD Global Network

New institutions that are non-EFMD members receive affiliated EFMD membership for 2 years after they receive EDAF eligibility, which gives them access to the network through events and other activities.

  • Link to International Accreditation

EDAF paths the way to international accreditation processes, including EQUIS and EFMD Programme Accreditation and participation in EFMD accreditation seminars.

  • International Recognition

Institutions that complete the EDAF process receive the EDAF Certificate, an internationally recognised label confirming a commitment to quality improvement.

How is EDAF beneficial for an institution’s faculty, management, staff and students?

  • Improved Management and Resources

Enhanced management structures, processes, and financial systems ensure better allocation of resources, benefiting the overall academic and administrative environment.

  • Enhanced Programmes and Teaching Quality

The assessment and improvement of programme portfolios, curricula, and teaching quality directly benefit students through a better educational experience.

  • Faculty Development and Qualifications

EDAF emphasises faculty qualifications, management, recruitment, and development, leading to a more capable and well-supported faculty body.

  • Enhanced Intellectual Activity

The focus on research, pedagogy, and consultancy ensures that faculty and students are engaged in high-quality intellectual activities, fostering a vibrant academic environment.

  • Community and Corporate Connections

Strengthened external connections with corporate, international, and public agencies provide students and faculty with broader opportunities for collaboration, internships, and practical learning experiences.
